A DRINK driver has been slapped with a three-year ban after being caught twice over the legal limit in eight months.
Gholam Rostami, 46, hit a taxi before smashing into railings close to a roundabout in Western Approach, South Shields, last September, South Tyneside Magistrates' Court heard.
Police were called to the scene and Rostami, who was driving a Nissan Primera car, was arrested after officers suspected he had been drinking.
He was taken to South Shields police station where he was breathalysed and found to have 67 microgramms of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit is 35 microgramms per 100ml of breath.
