The Scottish coffee house chain which launched the careers of KT Tunstall and Amy MacDonald, and brought the likes of Julie Fowlis and Colin MacIntyre to Hawick, is treading water this week after falling into administration.
Founded in 1999 by entrepreneur Gordon Richardson, Beanscene now operates 14 outlets across the country, providing a local alternative to international coffee house giants with an emphasis on promoting new music in Scotland.
However, last Thursday Blair Nimmo and Tony Friar of KPMG Restructuring were appointed joint administrators of Beanscene Limited at the request of the company's director.
