Gentamycin, a bactericidal antibiotic is being used extensively in combination with chloram-phenicol-a bacterio static antibiotic in severe ocular diseases like corneal ulcers, post-operative ocular infections etc. This combina-tion is prefered by many ophthalmologists since these two antibiotics have better penetra-tion into the blood aqueous barrier and are more specific against Pseudomonas and Staphylococcal infections.
