A FORMER RAF photographer was today flying high after he was named as the new Lord Mayor of Leeds.
Coun Brian Cleasby (Lib Dem, Horsforth), pictured, was formally announced as Lord Mayor at a full Leeds City Council meeting yesterday.
He succeeds Coun Mohammed Iqbal (Lab, City & Hunslet), who was Leeds's first Muslim Lord Mayor.
Coun Cleasby's wife, Jo, will serve as Lady Mayoress throughout the year in office.
A Leeds councillor for 12 years, Coun Cleasby has lived in Rawdon for nearly 40 years.
Born in Stockton-on-Tees, the 69-year-old has had a lifetime love of cameras and photography.
