A NEW exhibition highlighting the common bonds shared by coal mining communities across the world will open at Yorkshire's National Coal Mining Museum later this month.
United by Coal, the museum's 2007 summer exhibition, will be opened by Wakefield MP Mary Creagh on Friday, May 11.
Rosemary Preece, curatorial director at the museum said the exhibition told the little-known story of how coalfield communities the world over shared a common bond so strong that thousands crossed continents to find work.
