CHILDREN in Leeds will learn about an unsung heroine from the Crimean War when a new touring play hits the city's primary schools next month.
The Yellow Doctress, written by Marcia Layne, tells the story of Mary Seacole, a Jamaican woman who was a leading figure on the front line in the Crimea.
The one-woman play, starring Louisa Eyo, follows Seacole's struggle to be accepted as a nurse in the middle of the 19th century.
