The cream machine: dispensers are whipping up more than just plain cream.

With summer in full swing, smoothies and blended ice drinks are at the height of their popularity. And those sweet, frosty treats rarely seem complete without being fully decorated with dazzling syrups, sprinkles and whipped cream.

Whipped cream immediately elicits the image of the prepackaged aerosol can of super-sweet, airy cream. High-quality whipped cream was usually hand mixed or whisked up with an electric mixer for a homemade, specialty product. Chefs changed the industry of whipped cream forever more than 60 years ago with the innovation of pressurized cream whippers.
