A wider reach in cellular.(Brightpoint Inc. to merge with Allied Communications in May 1996)

Brightpoint Inc. is counting on its merger with Allied Communications to widen its product distribution and help it to penetrate the retail market. Brightpoint, which is solidly entrenched in the midwestern and southeastern US, wants to capitalize on Allied's distribution network on the East Coast and in Latin America. Brightpoint is also launching its own line of cellphone products and marketing them to retailers in addition to service providers.

Indianapolis--Brightpoint Inc. expects its merger next month with Allied Communications to help further the cellular telephone distributor's thrust into the retail market.
