'Free Tibet' protest near main Olympic venue

Beijing, Aug 6 (PTI) Dodging heavy security, four foreigners today unfurled 'Free Tibet' banners near the main Olympic venue here before being detained, a dramatic protest that left the Chinese authorities red-faced just two days before the opening ceremony of the Games.
The two British and two US citizens gathered at 5.47 am at the Beichen Overpass near the National Stadium or "Bird's Nest", the main architectural showpiece of Olympics. They clambered up two electricity poles and hung the banners in English and Chinese, a police official said.
