When the Beijing Olympic Games open this Friday, Oregon's presence will be all over the place, in the form of those distinctive swooshes bedecking athletes' shoes and uniforms, as well as through the efforts of the 27 athletes with Oregon ties competing in 11 sports.
While the ubiquitous Nike emblem will be the most obvious sign of Oregon's influence over the games - the Beaverton shoe and apparel giant is outfitting athletes from more than 120 sports federations in 38 countries - the Beaver state will be making its mark in other ways, big and small.
