The Brazilian telecoms regulator Anatel has authorized investment company Docas Investimentos to acquire long distance operator Intelig, Anatel board member Pedro Jaime Ziller said in a press conference.

Docas Investimentos announced the deal last January and paid US$12mn to Intelig owners: the UK's National Grid, Sprint Nextel and France Telecom. The deal is worth US$22mn and the remaining US$10mn are now to be paid upon Anatel's authorization.

Anatel has also announced its approval for the proposal presented by Spanish telco Telefonica and Telecom Italia for keeping mobile operators Vivo and TIM's operations independent in the ...
