Article: Downing Street must not dither on stamp duty; COMMENT.(Features)

JUST when it seemed that the Government was preparing to keel over and give up for good, some signs of intellectual life are emerging from Downing Street.

Yesterday's semi-official suggestion that stamp duty could be suspended for a short period to give a much-needed boost to the housing market is a sensible one: the Government should do it, and go further.

Now that the cat is out of the bag ...
