A NEW fire chief has been elected for the county for the first time in a decade.
Cllr Roy Pegram has taken over from Cllr Mac McGuire as the chairman of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fire Authority.
Cllr McGuire had been chairman for nearly 10 years before he stood down from his post last week.
The new chairman was elected at the authorities annual meeting on Thursday.
Cllr Pegram said: "I am extremely excited and proud to have been elected as chairman. I believe I was elected as throughout my life I have had the ability to get the best out of others.
