May 1--You'd feel much better if you lived somewhere else.
That's the message contained in the latest monthly survey of consumer confidence, which indicates that residents of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are in a deep funk, especially compared with their fellow Americans in places such as Colorado, Indiana or Georgia.
The Conference Board, which tracks the national sense of economic well-being, said Tuesday that its index for the U.S. as a whole hit its highest level in almost six years in April, as worries about job security ebbed somewhat.
