CONTINUING the Lisbon Treaty ratification in other countries makes no sense unless Ireland reverses its veto first, Czech President Vaclav Klaus has warned.
As the European Unions leading critic of the treaty, the Czech presidents view is important because he will take over the EUs rotating presidency on January 1, 2009.
Mr Klaus was the only EU statesman to welcome the Irish No vote result in June.
The Czech president believes that the treatys future now depends on whether the other EU members can bring enough collective weight on Ireland.
