IDB Holding Corp. Ltd. is mulling an entry into the energy market in Turkey. A delegation headed by Clal Energy, a unit owned by IDB subsidiary Clal Industries and Investments (TASE: CII), recently visited Turkey and looked at proposals to bid in tenders worth hundreds of millions of dollars to build hydroelectric power plants.
The Turkish government intends to invest between $2 billion and $3 billion in building hydroelectric power plants by 2012, in view of the sharp increase in demand for electricity in the country.
