Consumers' Research noted the publication last month of a new report from the National Research Council--prepared by the Council's Committee on Comparative Toxicity of Naturally Occurring Carcinogens--which concluded, in essence, that the greater threat in the human diet today comes not from minor chemicals in food, but from diets too rich in calories and fats, or alcohol.
