High Peak councillors went against their own policy this week by refusing to allow planning permission for seven holiday cottages to be built in Fairfield.
Councillors have a responsibility to provide tourist accommodation within the High Peak, but felt that a redundant farmhouse on Redgap Lane was not fit for conversion.
Paul Searle, speaking on behalf of the applicants, said that a report from structural engineers he employed showed that the building was stable and could be converted safely.
