CHARLTON - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will commemorate Buffumville Dam's 50th year of service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with an anniversary event replete with music, hula hoops and cake.
The gathering at the dam will include a pictorial history, a working model dam, and the opportunity to participate in a time capsule.
"Saturday's event recognizes Buffumville Dam's 50 years of service reducing flood damages and protecting natural resources, all the while providing beautiful recreational opportunities for the area," Corps Project Manager Timothy G. Russell said yesterday.
