KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After going more than three weeks without a win, Tim Wakefield deserved a night on cruise control.
In his first start since turning 42, that's what his teammates gave him as they pounded the Kansas City Royals, 8-2, before 24,294 fans last night at Kauffman Stadium.
Well, he didn't exactly cruise all the way, but the Sox started hitting midway through the game to make life easy for him finally.
The win allowed the Sox to remain three games behind the Tampa Bay Rays, who beat the Cleveland Indians.
