Local submerged-arc smelting furnace designer and supplier Tenova Pyromet says that the implementation of its first matte launder project at mining and metals company Doe Run Peru s (DRP s) operation in the Andes, in South America, may well open doors for future projects in the copper industry .

This is according to Tenova Pyromet development engineer for copper products Edward Carman.

The first set of launders will be delivered by early 2009, and forms part of the design and supply of a 15-m slag launder for DRP s La Oraya metallurgical complex, which has been in operation since 1997.
