ONE week into the smoking ban, the Advertiser & Review has been looking at the effect the new law has had on businesses and public buildings across Buckinghamshire, Bicester and South Northamptonshire.
The law, which came into effect at 6am last Sunday, prohibits smoking in public areas such as pubs, workplaces, railway stations and even bus shelters.
Local councils are responsible for the enforcement of the ban and anyone caught smoking illegally can be fined [pounds sterling]50, which could jump to [pounds sterling]200 if the person is prosecuted and convicted by a court.
