The National Electrical Code, or NEC, is developed under auspices of the National Fire Protection Assn., and is revised on a three-year cycle.(*) The 1069-p 1996 version represents a 179-p increase over its predecessor 1993 edition. Revisions to the NEC result from proposals for change that have been submitted by the general public. Any person - acting either as an individual or in the capacity of official representative of a particular organization - can submit a proposal for revision.
