BORDERS Police have achieved the highest solved crime figures in the Lothian and Borders Police area, it was announced this week.
E'G Division' solved 3,763 of the 6,016 crimes recorded in the year ending March 31, three per cent up on last year's figure. The overall crime figure fell by two per cent from 6,159 for 2004-4 to 6,016 for 2004-5.
EDespite this success, Borders Commander chief superintendent Charlie Common is not complacent. He said: "Considering the many and varied demands of last year, I am delighted at what we have achieved. The clear up rate for violent crimes of 92% (147 out of 160 solved) was particularly pleasing.
