We examine verbal behavior in student-teacher talk and alignment of perceptions of communication effectiveness. Heightened awareness of conversational patterns is more productive in the learning environment than the rote use of discourse markers.
Conversational analysis
"In most forms of social interaction, people do not give too much thought either to the form of their spoken discourse or to its possible impact on other interactants" (Bilbow and Yeung 1998, p. 407).
