Gail Emms will retire after the 2008 Beijing Olympics
Badminton star Gail Emms has announced that she will quit the sport after the Beijing Olympics.
The former Dame Alice Harpur School pupil, who won Olympic silver with Nathan Robertson in the mixed doubles at Athens in 2004, has decided against trying to stay on for the London games in 2012.
She said: "If I stayed on for London in 2012 I would be 35. It is a great deal to ask to carry on until then.
