Maiden 50 for Cook
Both Alastair Cook and Monty Panesar made their England Test debuts in India this week.
Former Bedford School student and Essex batsman, Cook, scored a maiden test 50 on Wednesday before finally being dismissed for 60 as England made 393 all out in their first innings.
Cook, 21, who was on England A's tour of the Caribbean, was only called up to the full test side last week when Marcus Trescothick returned home for family reasons and Michael Vaughan suffered a recurrence of his knee injury.
And the form of the former choirboy, has been music to the ears of staff and pupils at his old school.
