Here's what you should know about the Global Positioning System and how it's being plugged into construction and mining machines
The Global Positioning System (GPS) came to Construction Equipment in the form of a rental car. Avis had loaned one of CE's regional managers a new Buick with Satellite Guidance, a GPS-based system, asking her to use the system for several days and give an opinion about its practical value. Most of the CE staff asked for the Buick's keys, and we came away shaking our heads in awe.
