Seven landmark trees outside Chorley hospital are set to be cut down.
Lancashire County Council wants to fell the seven mature trees on Preston Road but they've run into a wave of protests.
Residents say the plans for the lime trees would destroy the character of the area and harm the environment.
Maureen and Conal Latham, 68 and 64, of Preston Road, have sent an objection letter to the highways department.
Mrs Latham said: "These trees are very mature and I can remember them from when I first moved here more than 20 years ago.
"There are 10 trees at the moment facing the hospital and there would be nothing left if they cut ...
