Teenage sensation Adam Grisdale is winning reviews in one the country's lesser known sports - of ice hockey.

Adam, from Mawdesley, has been chosen to attend trials for the England U16 team after wowing scouts playing as netminder for Manchester Phoenix.

The 15-year-old started out playing roller hockey with Preston Phoenix at Fulwood Leisure Centre when he was just eight.

When a friend returned from a holiday in Canada raving about the sport, Adam transferred his skills to Preston U12s ice hockey team.

Awards and trophies followed for Adam, who plays in goal, before he moved on to play for teams in Bradford and Flintshire and then for ...
