Mr John William Wholey, of Appian Way, Clay Cross, has died at The Old Vicarage, Clay Cross, aged 88.
Born in Clay Cross, he was a lifelong resident of Derbyshire.
Mr Wholey, who was known as Jack, was a pit deputy, working at collieries in the Manchester area, Holmewood and Shirebrook.
A devoted family man, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed all sports, especially football and rugby, and was sponge carrier for Clay Cross works football team during the 60s and early 70s. He also ...
