New Kincardine crossing to get underway

THE tender for the long awaited second Kincardine Bridge has been awarded - but it will cost [pounds sterling]30 million more than first estimated.

Work demolishing the Shell petrol station near the Bowtrees Roundabout has already begun while construction will start in earnest this June.

It will be the third road bridge spanning the River Forth and is expected to be finished by summer 2008.

Stirling-based Morgan Est and Vinci Construction won the [pounds sterling]90 million contract which was based on 2002 prices.
