May 6--The city's top health-care executives rewarded themselves with double-digit pay hikes last year -- even as complaints skyrocketed and service deteriorated, state records show.
Raises for one CEO hit an eye-popping 189 percent, while another chairman raked in 81 percent more in 1995 than he did in 1994, a Daily News review of compensation in the health industry found.
Meanwhile, the state Insurance Department reviewed 87 percent more complaints about New York's 28 health-maintenance organizations last year than it did the year before.
