May 7--Harvest States Cooperatives and Japan's Mitsui & Co. are combining consumer foods divisions to form a California-based joint venture that will have $800 million in annual food product sales.
Holsum Foods, the Harvest States unit based in Waukesha, Wis., will be merged and operated by Mitsui's Wilsey Foods at City of Industry, Calif. While the move may affect administrative jobs at Waukesha, it's not likely to affect production workers.
Harvest States, a farmer-owned cooperative, is based in Falcon Heights. Holsum uses soybean oil processed by Harvest States' Honeymead processing plant in Mankato to make salad dressing, margarine, mayonnaise products, ...
