Statewide high school graduation rates showed another small increase over the previous year, the second consecutive year the rate has improved slightly.
The state released on Monday graduation data for 2007, for the first time tracking students who graduated in both June and August of that year and showing that summer school can lead to a noticeable increase is the number of students earning a high school diploma.
Across the state, about 69 percent of students who started ninth grade in 2003 completed high school in June 2007, a 2 percentage point increase over the 2006 four-year rate. But the 2007 rate went up to 71 percent when ...
