AUST GOVT TO MULL INDUCEMENTS TO LURE PEOPLE TO PRIVATE HEALTH

CANBERRA - The Australian government will look at incentives to encourage people into private health insurance amid fears that changes to the Medicare levy surcharge threshold will prompt a member exodus.

The government wants to lift the income threshold for individuals from A$50,000 (US$43,735) to A$100,000 and for couples from A$100,000 to A$150,000.
