I was all set to write a wonderful commentary on one of the biggest insurance issues pending before Congress--applying equal regulatory requirements on all sellers of insurance--when my world was shattered.
I was going to note that the comptroller of the currency has said that bank insurance agencies need not acquire state insurance licenses nor meet continuing education requirements. I was also going to mention that the legislation pending before Congress would impose such requirements on bank insurance agencies.
But, I was going to say, why not go in the opposite direction? Rather than imposing these requirements on bank agencies, why not free traditional ...
