KANSAS CITY, MO. - The Twins began a three-game series against the Royals on Friday thinking they were three days away from having Michael Cuddyer back from a minor league rehabilitation assignment -- and getting a big boost for their playoff push.
His return is now in jeopardy. Cuddyer suffered a nondisplaced fracture of the second metatarsal bone in his left foot on Friday after he was hit by a line drive during Class AAA Rochester's game against Indianapolis.
The Twins held on to beat the Royals 4-1 on Friday, but Cuddyer's injury clearly dampened the celebration.
