RICHMOND saloon-car racer Robert Lawson scored his first-ever podium finish in a rain-affected round 13 of the ELF Renault Clio Cup at Snetterton circuit, Norfolk on Saturday.
He followed up with a sixth place in round 14 on Sunday to climb to seventh in the drivers' standings in the premier one-make saloon-car series.
Lawson, 29, is in his first season of car racing after his first attempt at a racing career was curtailed an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in 2001.
Backed by local firm Bardon Aggregates, he has made great progress with the established Mardi Gras team, culminating in his third place on Saturday.
