In the sweet blossoms of a shrub planted long ago, a gardener finds memories and inspiration.
The soft spring air is full of the fragrance of the year's first mowing. Neat golden bales dot the meadow, and the fruit trees look as though they've been frosted with vanilla icing. As I stand on my porch and look out across the valley to the mountain-tops beyond, I can see that the light green of new leaves has pushed up the slopes and almost reached the peaks. It is time for the first wildflower walk of the season.
