AN Army private who died in a drowning accident in Kilkenny last weekend had the heart of a soldier, mourners at his funeral were told.

Private Alan Boyce, 21, was buried with full military honours in Limerick yesterday.

He was laid to rest beside his older brother Thomas, also an Army private, who was killed at the age of 19 in a car crash.

Hundreds of mourners, many in tears, packed St Munchins Church where Army chaplain Fr S?amus Madigan said the family had been plunged into darkness following the death of a second child.
