ANGLERS received a boost last week as Ripon Piscatorial Association continued its introduction of new barbel stock to the River Ure.
Four hundred of these hard fighting fish were lifted from a Sussex weirpool and - just nine hours later - had entered their new home in the Ure below Hewick Bridge, Ripon.
Mr Nick Wallinger, Association Secretary, said barbel are a native species of the Ure, adapted to its fast flowing waters.
