DARMSTADT, Germany -- The Wella Group, which bills itself as the world's largest manufacturer of professional hair care products, reported a sharp downturn in sales growth and net income for 1995.
Sales increased 3.2 percent for 1995 to reach $2.3 billion (3.5 billion marks) at current exchange rates, compared to an 18.9 percent sales jump in 1994. Net profits slipped to $48.8 million (74.2 million marks) from $83.2 million (126.5 million marks).
The results, released here recently, were below the group's revised projection of last November, which forecast a 5 to 6 percent sales gain for the year.
