Nepali Congress may field own candidate for PM's post

Kathmandu, Aug 13 (PTI) Maoist chief Prachanda's hopes to be elected Nepal's Prime Minister unopposed were dealt yet another blow today with the Nepali Congress (NC) of Prime Minister G P Koirala throwing its hat into the ring.

"We will extend our support if CPN-UML fields its candidate for the Prime Minister's post. But if it does not do so, then the Nepali Congress will field its candidate," NC general secretary Bimalenra Nidhi said ahead of Friday vote in the Constituent Assembly to elect a new government.
