The South government said Monday (11 Aug) it will sell, merge or restructure 41 of the 305 state-owned companies in the first stage of its public sector reform programme.
The ministry of strategy and finance said the government plans to sell 27 public firms, merge two firms into one and restructure 12 companies in plans aimed at enhancing competitiveness of government-owned firms.
The announcement came after the government finalised the plans at an ad-hoc privatisation committee meeting with civilian experts, which followed consultations between government and ruling party officials earlier in the day.
