I spent time with Mom on her job last summer. You won't believe all she does to help animals!
My name is Darcie, and my mom is a vet. Vet is short for veterinarian (VET-er-in-AIR-ee-un). Mom's job is to go to different farms and be a doctor for large animals like horses and cows (see photo, below). Mom says she wants to teach me about responsibility and caring for animals. She also wants me to see how she makes our living. I used to tease her by saying that she just plays with animals all day. I do all the hard stuff, like gymnastics and homework. But last summer she took me along on some of her visits. I found out exactly how hard she has to work--and how much fun ...
