May 15--Austin won't need a Hard Rock Cafe or Planet Hollywood if Eddie Wilson has his way. By Labor Day, Wilson plans to open Threadgill's World Headquarters -- part "country cooking pure and simple," part Austin music museum, with a large helping of the intangible charm that has made Threadgill's an Austin institution.
"It will be Threadgill's times three," Wilson said. "I'm a wee bit giddy about it all."
Wilson believes it is especially fitting that the restaurant would occupy the space vacated by Wyatt's Cafeteria at 301 Riverside Drive, a stone's throw from the former site of his legendary Armadillo World Headquarters.
