ONE of Halifax RUFC's most respected elder statesmen is looking forward to taking things a little easier this season.
Dai Davies, a once feared and forthright forward at Ovenden Park during the 1950s and 60s, has been what club secretary Mike Smith terms the Professor of Club Records having logged every aspect of Halifax's fortunes for the last 45 seasons.
However, at the age of 77 and with his health not all it could be, Davies has decided the time is right to step down.
