ATLANTA--May 18--It's a deal for the 1990s: A state government is aching to get out of the recreation business; a corporate suitor is ready to accommodate.

Georgia this week turned over the keys to the 1,200-acre Lake Lanier Islands resort to KSL Recreation Corp. KSL has a 50-year lease to manage Lake Lanier and its 600 employees, although final details are still being worked out.

For now, KSL is downplaying any plans for sweeping changes at the resort. But in early proposals to the state, plans included another golf course, an expansion of the Hilton hotel, family vacation villas and a nature walk. It has also proposed a Pleasure Island, a music hal ...
