Sunday, September 3. An ex Hemel Hermpstead man has written a book about his time working for Radio Luxembourg.

Alan Bailey was born in Hemel, went to Crabtree Lane Seconday Modern School and his first job on leaving school was as a projectionist at the Luxor Cinema (now demolished) in Hemel Hempstead.

He worked at the radio statio from 1958 until 1975.

Working there as engineer and producer, he received three gold discs for recording three Monty Python Albums which went high into the charts, and recorded the auditions of Jimmy Savile and Noel Edmonds who both started on 208.
